Many books have been written about the Fingeroll Incident, but this one is the best.
I was there. I saw it happen. I know what Alice Weathergill did and why she did it. And it wasn’t why you think.
It was Fergus Swanshaw’s birthday. Alice offered him use of Fingeroll Hall for the party. It was far larger than the young man’s cottage in Savage Wood.
Everyone came. Even the Happen twins, Marjory and Eugene.
The twins were the ones who brought the mysterious Marmot Society ceremonial sword.
It was intended to be a gift. No one could anticipate the ghastly use of which it would be made.
